Airport wins training award

London City Airport won a staff development and training prize at the Docklands Business Club awards. Elizabeth Hegarty, who also looks after the airport training, said it was welcome appreciation for the company-wide efforts.
She said: ‘We are really chuffed, as our training programme has been overhauled the last year. We have a lot of local people coming in at entry level and moving up the ranks. It's what we call the 'grow your own' system. It's hard to find a security duty officer who lives in Silvertown, but we can get them in and train them.’
