London City Airport closed by flight emergency

The runway at London City Airport was closed for over two hours this afternoon after a plane made an emergency landing with a damaged nose wheel. The 25 passengers were kept on board the BA City Flyer from Glasgow for just over an hour after it touched down at about 13:10. They eventually left the aircraft normally, but no other flights were able to take off or land at the airport until the plane was removed.
A spokeswoman for London City said emergency services were at the scene before the plane touched down after the pilot notified the airport about the problem. The Air Accident Investigation Branch has launched an investigation, examining the aircraft and the circumstances of the flight.
