Air SouthWest axe Newquay / Plymouth flights
05.05.10
Air SouthWest is scrapping its service from Newquay and Plymouth to London City Airport. The twice-daily route was launched just over a year ago, aimed at business passengers, but has not performed as expected and is loss making.
A lack of passenger demand, coupled with the high cost of landing slots at London City, disruptions caused by the weather at the start of the year and the impact of the volcanic ash crisis were given as reasons for the decision. The last flights will be on May 12. The airline's four daily flights from Newquay and Plymouth to Gatwick will continue.
