New airport hotel plans announced

A new hotel, the Aloft London ExCel, is to open at ExCel near London City Airport, according to a news release from the brand's owner Starwood Hotels. The 252-bedroom hotel will be completed in time for the 2012 Olympics, and will join five other hotels, including a Crowne Plaza and a Novotel, already on the 100-acre site.
The new hotel will feature Aloft's trademark loft-like apartment look, with 9-foot ceilings, oversized windows and sleek design. It is being created with Abu Dhabi National Exhibitions Co, which also owns the Aloft Abu Dhabi as well as the ExCel conference centre and other convention centres around the world.
