Fog ground flights
10.10.10
London City Airport's location is a blessing and a curse. It is close to the new financial centre in Canary Wharf, and a short hop from the City. But it is also on the water and so affected more than most airports by the elements, particularly fog.
So it should come as no surprise that services were disrupted at the airport on Friday by fog over east London, with all morning flights grounded. Planes were not able to land at the Docklands hub all morning due to low visibility. 5 incoming flights were diverted to Heathrow and Gatwick, 14 other incoming flights and 18 take-offs were cancelled, and other flights were delayed until later that day. Minor delays continued throughout the day.
