BA considering more US routes
11.02.10
British Airways may expand its all-business-class flights to the US from London City Airport, Bloomberg reports its Chief Executive Officer Willie Walsh said yesterday. Destinations being considered including Boston and Washington, with the airline regularly filling 75 percent of the seats on flights between City and New York.
Mr Walsh said: ‘London City - New York is performing really well and bookings are very encouraging. We are considering more East Coast routes, but we need to be able to look at at least 4 months of operations before reaching a decision.’
The news comes as OpenSkies, BA's European all-business class airline, announced it is launching a new route between Washington and Paris on May 3. The airline currently also has a single route - between Paris and New York - with 17 flights per week.
