London City Airport expansion 'green light'
18.08.08
London Mayor Boris Johnson has approved plans for the expansion of London City Airport, planning daily reports. He told London Assembly members in a question time session yesterday that the proposals had been ‘green lighted’ earlier this week.
The Mayor reversed his opposition to an application to increase the number of flights at the airport last month, but asked Newham Council to put back its consideration of the plans. He requested the delay so that a Department for Transport report could be prepared on the impact of the expansion on the Thames Gateway Bridge proposals, but now seems happy to allow the Docklands airport to expand.
