No lounge access for BA all business passengers
12.03.09
British Airways has revealed that passengers on its new all-business class service from London City Airport to New York JFK, will not have lounge facilities at the Docklands hub, the Times reports. A BA spokesman defended this, telling the Times: ‘Part of the appeal [of London City] is that you can get through the airport in 15 minutes.'.
The service is due to launch in the Autumn, and the spokesman added that by the time the first flight took off, London City would have completed ongoing works on its terminal, making it a much more pleasant place to wait for a flight. We assume that passengers will have access to BA's lounge at JFK, where the time from curb to plane is likely to be considerably longer.
The spokesman said that the service is still on track for launch in the autumn – believed to be September – despite the economic downturn and the turmoil in the financial sector. Financial companies with offices in Canary Wharf will be a key target for the new flights.
