New CityJet route means London City is full
15.10.07
London City Airport says that it is now full following last week's announcement that Dublin based Air France subsidiary CityJet will switch its flights to Strasbourg from Gatwick to the Docklands hub later this month.
An airport spokesman told news website abtn.co.uk: 'We are at capacity. We have applied for an increase in aircraft movements from the current level of 80,000 a year to 120,000 by 2010. Hopefully that will be approved by the London Borough of Newham.'
An increase of that magnitude would allow passenger numbers at London City to rise to 3.9m. The airport says that opening hours would not change and that there would be no need for night flights.
