Judical review date set
16.06.10
The Judicial review of the decision by Newham Council to approve an increase in flight movements at London City Airport by up to 50 percent is to take place at the High Court on November 18 and 19. A decision expected 6 weeks after the hearing.
The council's decision to grant permission to increase the number of flight movements to 120,000 per year from 80,000 last July is the subject of a legal challenge after concerns were raised by a number of authorities about the impact the increase would have on their residents. Questions have also been raised about the public consultation on the plans.
The grounds of the review are on claims Newham Council failed to take into account a change in Government policy on climate change, to consult neighbouring boroughs Waltham Forest and Redbridge and residents on the possible effects of the increased aircraft movements.
