UK flight punctuality improves, but not at London City

Punctuality of scheduled flights from the UK was better in the last quarter of 2007 than the year before. But Heathrow and London City Airport bucked the trend, according to the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), with more flights late at the docklands airport in the quarter than at any time in the past 5 years.
Across the 10 UK airports monitored (Heathrow, Gatwick, Birmingham, Luton, Stansted, Manchester, Newcastle, Edinburgh, Glasgow and London City), average punctuality improved by 1 percentage point to 69%. However, at Heathrow it dropped 1 percentage point to 60% and London City saw a 10 percentage point-drop to 58%.
Average delays for schedule flights dropped by 1 minute to 17 minutes, with only London City seeing an increase. The average delay at Heathrow fell from 22 minutes to 21 minutes, whilst the average delay at London City was 20 minutes.
The punctuality of charter flights also dropped by 1 percentage point during the quarter, to 66%. Only Luton improving (by 3 percentage points). The average delay for charter flights dropped from 29 minutes to 26 minutes, although it increased at Stansted and Newcastle by 2 minutes and at Birmingham by 1 minute.
Across the top 75 destinations, Lisbon had the longest average delay - 29 minutes - and worst on-time performance of 49%. Top of the pile was Leeds Bradford, with an average delay of 8 minutes and 84% of flights on time.
