Upgraded London Heliport opens
19.07.10
The ultra modern new passenger terminal at the London Heliport in Battersea has officially opened for business - ahead of the Farnborough Air Show this week. Many of the senior executives from the world’s leading aerospace companies will use the heliport en route to and from the show.
The heliport now has world-class business aviation facilities, a major improvement on the old passenger facilities built when the original heliport was opened by Westland Helicopters in 1959. Two years in development, is offers additional helicopter parking, a rebuilt and upgraded control tower and modern facilities for the heliport’s fire and rescue team.
The London Heliport remains the Capital’s only licensed commercial heliport. It is operated by PremiAir on behalf of the von Essen Group, which owns the heliport and Hotel Verta, a new luxury hotel due to open in September, which adjoins the passenger terminal.
