Text / email service on BA New York flights
23.01.09
Passengers on BA's new all business services between London City Airport and New York JFK will be able to use mobiles, BlackBerries and data-enabled laptops in-flight, the Times reports. When the new twice daily route starts this autumn, passengers will be able to use their mobiles, BlackBerries and laptops for text messaging and data services. The airline may introduce voice calls at a future date.
Willie Walsh, BA's chief executive, told the newspaper: ‘This is a great service for our passengers whom we know want to do business in the air or simply stay in touch via e-mail or text. It’s a perfect fit for our new business class only service, which we will launch later this year.‘
The technology is provided by Mobile OnAir, the company behind inflight mobile services being launched by Ryanair and bmi.
