BA announce Dublin route; add Nice and edinburgh flights

British Airways is expanding its route network from London City Airport with the launch of a new service to Dublin and increased frequency on two existing routes. The new three-flights-a-day Dublin service will take off on June 1, with fares from £55 one way. It will end Air France CityJet's current six-flights-a-day monopoly on the route.
The airline is also marking the success of its recently launched Nice route from London City with the introduction of a second daily return flight from September. In addition BA is to increase the number of flights to Edinburgh in September, offering more flights to Scotland from London City than any other airline.
Peter Simpson, managing director of BA CityFlyer, said: ‘We have added to our previously business-based schedule a number of new routes that will attract leisure passengers who want to fly direct from the Docklands. Dublin is an important new route, linking two financial capitals, and we are delighted to be able to offer a three-flights-a-day service in direct response to passenger demand.’
BA now operates up to 400 European and domestic flights per week to and from the Docklands hub. They include flights to Amsterdam, Barcelona, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Frankfurt, Madrid, Nice, Warsaw and Zurich.
We would guess that this makes makes Dublin the most likely stop off for its all business London City - New York flights, which will need to add fuel before heading across the atlantic because of weight restrictions on the short runway at the Docklands hub.
