No inquiry in to airport expansion

The Government has refused to grant a public inquiry into a decision to allow London City Airport to expand.
In October Newham Council voted to allow the airport to increase its flights by 50% from 80,000 at present to 120,000. However, despite calls for a public review from residents and environmentalists, the Secretary of State, Hazel Blears, this week refused to call in Newham's decision.
