London City campaign group joins HACAN
29.07.11
Campaign group Fight the Flights, which was formed 4 years ago to oppose plans to increase flight numbers at London City Airport by 50%, is to merge with Heathrow campaign group HACAN to become HACAN East London.
John Stewart, founder and chairman of HACAN, which represents residents under the Heathrow flight paths, said: ‘This makes a lot of sense. There are people across vast swathes of East London and South East London who suffer disturbance from both London City and Heathrow. Aircraft noise is a London-wide problem.'
‘The merger will enable campaigners in East London to gain access to HACAN’s greater resources. We will build on the excellent work Fight the Flights has done already in fighting noise and pollution.’
