easyJet slam BA over New York flights

easyJet slammed British Airways as it started its new business class-only flights between London City Airport and New York. The budget airline's UK general manager Paul Simmons said: ‘Flying 32 pampered bankers to New York twice a day is a band-aid strategy that will do nothing to address the fundamental collapse of business class revenues across BA’s network. In Europe BA is in terminal decline on premium traffic as customers vote with their wallets by moving to low-cost flights.’
A spokesperson for BA responded: ‘We believe there is considerable demand for business-class-only flights to and from London City. This is the most innovative long-haul service launched from the UK for 30 years. The airport is conveniently located close to the City and docklands, and its size means we can offer passengers travelling without hold luggage a 15-minute airport check-in or 20 minutes with hold baggage.’
